To whom is this Residencia Temporal permit directed?
Retired persons
This permit may be applied for by foreigners who, in accordance with the regulations of their country of residence, have obtained a retirement pension, on the condition that it allows them to satisfy at least their basic needs during their residence in the country, according to the parameters estimated by the Ministry of Social Development and Family.
Leasers
This permit may be applied for by foreign persons who have constant income derived from the exploitation of real estate or financial assets. In both cases, the income must be earned on a regular basis, and be sufficient to meet at least the basic needs of the applicant during their residence in the country, according to the parameters estimated by the Ministry of Social Development and Family.
Where can I apply if I am a retired person or leaser?
This application for a Residencia Temporal permit must be made from outside Chile, by logging in with the account created by the applicant for these purposes or with ClaveÚnica, in the Portal de Trámites Digitales of Servicio Nacional de Migraciones (SERMIG).

Requirements for retired persons
Documentation required
- Passport or Identification document.
- Certificate of criminal record or equivalent document issued by the competent authority of their country of origin or the country in which they have resided in the last 5 years (required to applicants over 18 years old).
- Recent photo:
- In color, with a white background.
- Looking directly at the camera, covering the entire face, with a neutral expression and open eyes.
- Do not wear accessories such as glasses or a hat.
- It must be taken on a current date, as close as possible to the time of application.
- Upload to the platform in JPG or PNG format.
- Certificate of retirement, specifying the income and period granted for receiving their pension. The certificate must be legalized or apostilled, as appropriate.
- Receipt of the last pension payment available at the time of application, duly legalized or apostilled, as appropriate.
Can I apply for an extension of the Residencia Temporal permit for retired persons?
Yes, you can apply for the Extension of Residencia Temporal permit, certifying that you maintain your status as a retired person and also presenting a document in which it is stated that you have the economic solvency to support the expenses during your residence in the country.
Can I apply for a permit as a dependent of the retired person?
Yes, you may be granted a Residencia Temporal permit as a dependent of the holder of this immigration subcategory, if your condition is included in paragraphs 1 and 2 of Article 74 of Law No. 21.325.

Requirements for leasers
Documentation for real estate leaser-owner
- Passport or Identification document.
- Certificate of criminal record or equivalent document issued by the competent authority of their country of origin or the country in which they have resided in the last 5 years (required to applicants over 18 years old).
- Recent photo:

- Looking directly at the camera, covering the entire face, with a neutral expression and open eyes.
- Do not wear accessories such as glasses or a hat.
- It must be taken on a current date, as close as possible to the time of application.
- Upload to the platform in JPG or PNG format.
- Certificate issued by the competent agency certifying the applicant's ownership of the property in question, duly legalized or apostilled, as appropriate. This certificate will not be necessary with respect to real estate located in Chile.
- Lease contract of the property, where the obligation to pay a determined amount on a regular basis in favor of the applicant is stipulated, duly legalized or apostilled, as appropriate.
- Documents certifying lease income.
Documentation for leaser-owner of financial asset
- Passport or Identification document.
- Certificate of criminal record or equivalent document issued by the competent authority of their country of origin or the country in which they have resided in the last 5 years (required to applicants over 18 years old).
- Recent photo:
- In color, with a white background.
- Looking directly at the camera, covering the entire face, with a neutral expression and open eyes.
- Do not wear accessories such as glasses or a hat.
- It must be taken on a current date, as close as possible to the time of application.
- Upload to the platform in JPG or PNG format.
- Certificate issued by the competent agency certifying the applicant's ownership of the financial assets, duly legalized or apostilled, as appropriate. This certificate will not be necessary with respect to assets from which income is obtained in Chile.
- Documents certifying the income obtained, which are a direct consequence of such financial assets.
Can I apply for an extension of the Residencia Temporal permit for leasers?
If you are a leaser and holder of a Residencia Temporal permit, you will be able to apply for the Extension of Residencia Temporal permit, by certifying, through valid documentation, your status as a leaser, and that you earn enough money to pay for your residence in the country.
Can I apply for a permit as a dependent of the leaser?
Yes, you may be granted a Residencia Temporal permit as a dependent of the holder of this immigration subcategory, if your condition is included in paragraphs 1 and 2 of Article 74 of Law No. 21.325.

Important!
- The passport must be valid for at least one year as from the application date (for applications submitted abroad).
- Documents issued in any language other than Spanish and English must be submitted together with their respective translation, which must be authorized by a certified body.
- All documents issued abroad or by the respective consular representation in Chile must be apostilled or duly legalized, as stipulated in Articles 345 and 345 bis of the Código de Procedimiento Civil (Code of Civil Procedure).
- Documents issued by private parties must be submitted within 30 days from the date of issuance. Those issued by public institutions and agencies must be presented within 60 days from the date of issuance unless the validity of the document is expressly stated.
